Samples
A widely used format for designing on line learning environments is WebQuest. (http://questgarden.com/159/36/2/130520145909/ or http://questgarden.com/137/38/1/111222110211/). There are also newer models for instruction that are more interactive and integrated, such as Project Page, MiniQuest, CuriculumQuest, DecisionQuest.
Sample Computer Simulations
SimCity --A computer simulation of a city planning adventure. Users fight crime and unemployment, control budgets, transit and population. Users create industry , shopping centers, parks, airports and more--- either from scratch or by using the models provided.
SimEarth-- Learners take charge of an entire planet and guide life from its inception as singlec elled microbes to a human civilization. Graphs and information windows reveal every detail of the planet's health.
SimLife -- Learners design plants and animals at the genetic level to influence how they appear, act, and eventually evolve. Learners can play with food webs, mutations, extinctions, and genetic engineering.
Carmen Sandiego Series published by Broderbund (http://www.carmensandiego.com/hmh/site/carmen/)
